Delaware Security Guard Practice Exam

In an active shooter situation, the primary focus for a security guard should be on ensuring the safety of individuals in the vicinity. Prioritizing evacuation when possible, securing the area, and alerting law enforcement is crucial because it addresses the immediate threat to life and helps mitigate further danger.

Evacuating individuals allows those at risk to move to safety, which is the most effective measure against potential harm. Securing the area helps prevent the shooter from accessing additional victims and may assist in controlling the situation until law enforcement arrives. Alerting law enforcement is essential to ensure that a rapid response is initiated, as trained professionals are equipped to handle such threats.

While donning personal protective equipment can be important in certain scenarios, it may not be practical or effective in the chaotic and unpredictable environment of an active shooter incident. Gathering information can be valuable, but it should not take precedence over immediate actions designed to protect lives. Confronting the shooter is highly dangerous and should only be considered as a last resort by trained individuals, as it may escalate the situation. Therefore, the comprehensive approach of evacuation, securing the area, and alerting authorities is paramount to managing the crisis effectively.
